FRC is an independent, employee-owned investment management firm dedicated exclusively to defined benefit pension plans. We provide pension fiduciaries with the resources to achieve pension plan goals while lowering pension plan risk and associated enterprise risk.
FRC's partners bring the necessary experience and analytical systems to develop, implement and manage comprehensive and centralized solutions to the challenges facing defined benefit trust investors. FRC's Integrated Chief Investment Office (ICIO) approach is a unique alternative to existing outsourced CIO offerings.
FRC was established in 2009 and has $8.7 billion under management.
The Challenge for Plan Fiduciaries
The successful stewardship of pension assets requires a deep team with a diverse set of skills, sophisticated analytical systems and a disciplined process framework. The mission critical challenge for plan fiduciaries is procuring the depth and breadth of resources required to develop, implement and execute a comprehensive plan.
For some pension plans, the solution is to build an in-house team. For other plans, outsourcing is the answer. For many plans, however, neither building nor outsourcing is ideal.
The Integrated Chief Investment Office (ICIO) Approach
FRC's ICIO approach provides plan sponsors with all the benefits of a deep and experienced in-house team without the cost and administrative burden of building one from scratch. FRC believes that the optimal solution to pension management is not to bring in "advisors" or "products." The optimal solution is to bring in a true partner to advise, implement, execute and explicitly take responsibility for investment decisions and outcomes as a co-fiduciary to the plan.
FRC's investment professionals work in close partnership with the plan sponsor's team, bringing much needed resources and insight to every aspect of the investment program while leveraging the expertise of those who already know the plan best. Unlike other OCIO providers, FRC respects the long-standing relationships many corporations have with banks and other vendors and will partner with, not replace, those service providers. Additionally, FRC's ICIO approach offers plan sponsors flexible levels of discretionary control.
